Mosiac’s – A Form of Mixed Media, What I have been up to….

This time of year I usually take a few months off painting …. to have a rest and revitalise my mind/ body/ Spirit!

I usually use this time off  to delve into past interests… that I have not had time to pursue due to painting!

This year I have gone down a slightly different road and  taken my Mixed Media in a new direction …

I have been wanting to expand my Art  from Inside – Out for a while now !

Art for inside – Art for Outside

I have created some new Mixed Media Artworks that can be enjoyed Inside and Out!

Follow my creative journey…

Hi all I have decided to start-up a separate Weblog…as a addition to this site …

My blog will be a great informal way of me allowing you into my creative mind!

As my inspiration for creating works of art comes  from just everyday moments of life, I thought it would be great to blog the next 12 months so you can  follow my creative journey over that time.  I invite you to share with me in my thoughts, quotes, photos, works in progress shots and  much more.

Just a quick post to let you know what I am up to …

At the moment I am currently working toward creating a New Body of work for my Exhibition in 2011.

In between painting for my 2011 exhibition, commissions and teaching I am also busy creating new works for my representing Galleries here in Christchurch and Akaroa including new work for Windsor Galleries upcoming exhibition in the new year! ( I will keep you posted on the dates closer to the time)

“MAURI” – Vital Force that exists in all things -FOR SALE

I started “MAURI ORA”  a few weeks ago now and I am enjoying it so much ! I really do recommend it to everyone !!

The word Mauri means the vital force that exists in all things both animate alive/seen and inanimate unseen!

It is an agent that binds the wairua (SPIRIT), hinengaro (MIND), and tinana (PHYSICAL), to a relationship that produces mauri ora.

Mauri ora occurs when the balance of all three are synchronised.  When this takes place the mauri becomes active and is driven to find avenues of expression.

I wanted to share with you two we miniature artworks that I have created with Mauri Ora in mind!!

The South Island Tomtit or Ngirungiru is from the family of the Australian Robin.

The species is not threatened and has adapted to the changes made to New Zealand’s biodiversity.

There are five subspecies of the Tomtit, each species being restricted to each of the following islands or island groups, North Island, South Island, the Snares Islands, the Chatham Islands and the Auckland Islands. Four of these five subspecies have been elevated to full species in the past (the Chatham subspecies was retained with the South Island Tomtit), but genetic studies have shown that these subspecies diverged relatively recently
