Sorry guys I need a smack on the hand for not updateing my quick tip of the week !!!!!!
So as a sorry I am going to give you 3 tips today
Ok here we go… I am going to pick just 3 things you can use a gel medium for…
1) Collage - any gel is the perfect medium to use to adhere any object to your artwork, depending what you are wanting to stick down you can use any gel from a soft gel for papers etc through to a High Solid Gel for heavier objects.
2) Extending and thickening (impasto) - by add a gel medium to your paint this can help to extend the paint so you do not have to use so much of it! or also if you are using a Fluid or Airbrush paint than is thinner than Heavy Body paint you can add some gel medium with your paint and this will change the viscosity of your paint from fluid to heavy body.
3) Glazing - Add gel medium to a little bit of Modern Pigment ( which remember… Modern pigment is normally bright and translucent) mix together and use this over your finished artwork to create a glaze. NB the reason we normally use translucent colours with gel for glazes is that you want to be able to see through the glaze and be able to view your artwork better!
EXTRA TIP !
Gel mediums that are Semi Gloss, or Gloss dry clear
Gel Mediums that are Matte – dry more opaque than totally clear so you will have a slightly whitish look to them, this is because they have a Matting agent ( which is white) added to the gel to make it matte.
