I love painting NZ Native Birds and would like to introduce you to this artwork 4 Sale titled “A quiet place to Land”
A Little about these lovely birds…
The silvereye, also known as wax-eye, or white-eye, has a conspicuous white ring around the eye, thus giving the bird it’s name. The head and upperparts are olive green with a grey band across the back which extends around the chest. The underparts are a peachy brown with white under the tail. Quite an attractive colourful bird when seen through the lens.
Silvereyes feed on a variety of foods, invertebrates, fruit, nectar and will feed in flocks over winter in gardens and parks from bird tables, eating fats, cooked meats, and bread and sugar water. They have a specially adapted tongue, with bristles, which allows them to lap up nectar. They prefer the fruit of native trees but do feed on other fruiting species.
Now that the holidays are over … I need to pull my finger out … lol

At the moment I am currently working toward creating a New Body of work for my Exhibition in 2011.
In between painting for my 2011 exhibition, commissions and teaching I am also busy creating new works for my representing Galleries here in Christchurch and Akaroa including new work for Windsor Galleries upcoming exhibition in the new year! ( I will keep you posted on the dates closer to the time)

This time of year is always busy… so normally I try and take some time out around about now to just Chill! and regain some creativity! but lol just when I want to start winding down I seem to be busier than ever… at the moment I am flat painting some more work for my galleries… which means that I can’t see me having any spare time at the moment to create my smaller works to list on Trade Me.
One week to go on my Art- Using Mixed Media Course at Hagley! I can’t believe how fast this term has gone by! Sad that Hagley are finishing their Community Night Classes as we know them… but I am looking forward to the New Year where I will be teaching this course at Papanui High, Night Classes!
Water and Stones done… moving onto the detail within the trees…
Unfortunately because of the Government Funding Cuts toward Community Education, Hagley Community College is ceasing its community education evening programme at the end of 2009 and moving in a new direction, with its “After Three” Program for 2010.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT PAPANUI HIGH SCHOOL IS STILL CONTINUING TO HOLD ADULT & COMMUNITY EDUCATION IN 2010!
My Art- Using Mixed Media Course will now be available at Papanui High School starting in Term 1 of 2010!
