The South Island Tomtit or Ngirungiru is from the family of the Australian Robin.
The species is not threatened and has adapted to the changes made to New Zealand’s biodiversity.
There are five subspecies of the Tomtit, each species being restricted to each of the following islands or island groups, North Island, South Island, the Snares Islands, the Chatham Islands and the Auckland Islands. Four of these five subspecies have been elevated to full species in the past (the Chatham subspecies was retained with the South Island Tomtit), but genetic studies have shown that these subspecies diverged relatively recently
I have been flat-out painting commissions lately and havent had much time to dedicate to this artwork… but have been able to add some more stones … so here is an update on this artwork… nearly up to date with commissions so will be able to spend a little more time on this shortly…

Hi all, well I have been really busy over the last couple of months… I am currently painting some commission artwork, which I am really enjoying, and also trying to keep up with my Touch Stones… I am currently trialing NZ Native Birds on my touch stones… so watch this space for the first one…..
