Winter Newsletter Dated 01/07/09

Hi and thanks for taking a moment to read my latest newsletter and check out what I have been up to over the last few months. 

Firstly just a brief update on the last 6 months, one of the main Galleries “Heart of Art” that I exhibited and sold my artwork closed down in January this year, which was very sad for me, not only because it was a great place to exhibit my work but also I will miss the contact I had with the two owners, they  were really lovely people and have  now relocated to Australia!

My artwork can still be viewed and purchased via Windsor Gallery Christchurch ,  Gallery Lavaud Akaroa and of course via my Website and home Studio/Gallery.

  I first started out approx 4 or 5 years ago selling my artwork on trademe and loved having that direct contact with the buyer, unfortunately selling via galleries we tend to miss out on the customer contact which I have really missed, so I have decided that I would start to sell some of my smaller artworks back on Trade Me.  

There are a couple of great benefits for my customers by doing this, Lower Prices and the option of paying by Credit Card. 

Due to the Lower Commission Rate charged on Trade Me I am able to offer my work to you at a Discounted Price; which makes it a      Great Opportunity to Invest in my Original Art at a Great Price!

Cedit Card Paymentscan now be used when purchasing my artwork bought via Trademe.

If you see an artwork on my website that you would like to purchase using your Credit Card, please contact me, I can then list it with a Buy Now Option on Trade Me.

I have a strong passion for “Art in Schools” and where ever possible am happy to help out…I am really gutted … a few weeks ago I delivered some artworks to an Intermediate School here in Christchurch… they had worked really hard, studying how art and the community mix, and decided to put on an Art Exhibition at their school and to raise funds for a community charity! , a couple of the Children contacted me and asked if I would put some of my artworks in this exhibition… I really enjoy teaching children art and helping them discover  new skills etc.. so was delighted to be involved.  On the Friday afternoon I delivered the artworks to them….  BUT … got a call the next morning to be advised that the School had been hit by Arsonists, unfortunately my artwork was destroyed as was artwork and hard work of the children involved !

Apart from creating new artworks, I have been teaching a small class of primary school children and really enjoying that, I also will be teaching a night class next term at Hagley Community Collage specialising in ( art- mixed media), so have been pretty busy with organising the curriculum for those two classes.

Art Using Mixed Media

Course Fee $35 + $40 material fee – this will cover all materials
used on this 10 Week Course.

Discover your “creative self” by exploring various forms of mixed media.  You will grow in confidence as you learn product knowledge and different techniques to create your own works of art.

- Discover different painting techniques and styles.

- Look at landscape, abstract and still life.

-Use texture with gel mediums.

-Experimenting with 2d tissue rope.

-Learn about and experiment with acrylic transfers and acrylic skins.

- Explore ways of creating Abstract art by using texture.

-By the end of this course you will have completed various artworks with different techniques and will have completed one  artwork combining at least 2 techniques from the above list.

Time :  Tuesday 7-9pm

Starting Date : 28th July   (8 week course)

Where :Hagley Community College, Room: A1

First Evening: Bring five photocopies of either black and white or coloured photos (can be of family members, pets, landscape, seascape, still life).
and A2 drawing pad
